World Juniors scores today: Updated results, schedule for IIHF hockey games on Dec. 26, 2024

The 2025 World Juniors are officially underway.

The annual IIHF tournament is a chance for the best U20 prospects from around the globe to compete on the biggest stage of their young playing careers while also representing their country. The goal is simple — bring a gold medal back to their nation.

Ten teams are in Ottawa competing to be crowned World Junior champions. The United States has hopes of defending its gold medal from the 2024 competition, bringing back key members of the championship group such as Ryan Leonard, Gabe Perreault and Zeev Buium.

Canada is aiming to get back on the podium after missing out on a medal in 2024. The Canadians recently went back-to-back in 2022 and 2023. Finland has not won gold at the tournament since 2016, while Sweden has been titleless at the World Juniors stage since 2012.

The competition begins with the preliminary round before getting into the knockout stage. Who will win the ultimate U20 hockey prize this year?

The Sporting News has the full schedule for today’s World Juniors contests and the updated results.
