Liverpool vs. Leicester City lineups, expected starting 11, confirmed team news, injuries: Jota tipped for start

Premier League leaders Liverpool host Leicester City in the competition’s final Boxing Day fixture on December 26.

Arne Slot’s side head into the festive period with a four-point lead at the top of the EPL rankings after an incredible 6-3 weekend win away at Tottenham.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Foxes endured a weekend to forget as they lost 3-0 at home to Midlands rivals Wolves in Vitor Pereira’s first game in charge. The former Manchester United striker will need to produce a masterplan if he is to halt Slot’s red machine.

The Sporting News looks at the latest team news and predicted starting lineups for the fixture.

The positive news keeps on rolling for Slot, with no new injuries cited from the win at Spurs, although Conor Bradley and Ibrahima Konate remain sidelined until the start of January.

With such a quick turnaround in between games, Slot could rotate his starting XI — despite that superb performance in north London — with Kostas Tsimikas and Diogo Jota potential starters.

Liverpool predicted XI (4-3-3, right to left): Alisson (GK) — Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Tsimikas — Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Gravenberch — Salah, Jota, Diaz

Injured: Bradley (thigh), Konate (knee)
Suspended: None

Van Nistelrooy is hoping first-choice goalkeeer Mads Hermansen will be fit, but Danny Ward — criticised by Leicester fans after the Wolves defeat — remains on standby. Abdul Fatawu and Ricardo Pereira are both out until spring.

Wilfred Ndidi is still a few weeks away from a comeback but Van Nistelrooy could recall Caleb Okoli and Harry Winks in a rotated team.

Leicester City predicted XI (4-3-3, right to left): Ward (GK) — Justin, Okoli, Vestergaard, Kristiansen — Winks, Skipp, Soumare — Ayew, Vardy, Mavididi

Injured: Fatawu (knee), Pereira, Ndidi (both thigh), Hermansen (pelvis, doubt)
Suspended: None
