Manchester United’s season hit a new low as they suffered a humiliating 3-0 loss to Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The defeat, their third in four league games, left fans furious and pundits critical.
Michael Owen didn’t hold back, singling out Noussair Mazraoui for a costly error that handed the visitors a crucial second goal.
The Red Devils were already trailing 1-0 when Mazraoui, playing as a makeshift center-back, made a rash slide tackle on Justin Kluivert in the penalty area.
Instead of containing the danger, Mazraoui’s decision gifted Bournemouth a penalty, which they converted to double their lead.
Moments later, the Cherries added a third, sealing a second consecutive 3-0 victory over United at Old Trafford.

Michael Owen brands Noussair Mazraoui ‘stupid’
Speaking on Premier League Productions, Owen didn’t mince words. “It wasn’t just rash; it was stupid,” he said.
“What on earth are you doing there? Kluivert wasn’t in a dangerous position, and Mazraoui didn’t need to dive in. Just stay on your feet.”
Owen also criticized United’s overall mentality, stating, “This team goes 1-0 down, and you never feel they’ll come back. They’re not a good team right now.”
Manager Ruben Amorim echoed the disappointment, acknowledging the team’s struggles but vowing to push forward.
“Bad moments don’t last forever,” he said post-match.
However, with United spending Christmas in the league’s bottom half for the first time since 1989, the pressure is mounting.
Amorim faces a daunting task of turning things around, with fans losing patience and the team’s performances showing little sign of improvement.
