The Los Angeles Dodgers have already added one superstar this offseason. They could swing a blockbuster trade to add an elite infielder before the start of the 2025 season.
The St. Louis Cardinals are trying to trade Nolan Arenado and according to MLB insider John Denton, the Dodgers are his top choice. He is willing to wait until the Dodgers tell him they do not want him to accept a trade elsewhere. FanSided’s Zach Pressnell proposed this trade that sends Arenado to the Dodgers:
- Dodgers receive: third baseman Nolan Arenado and cash considerations
- Cardinals receive: right-handed pitcher Bobby Miller
“While the Angels, Mets, and Red Sox are intriguing options, they just don’t make as much sense as the Dodgers. Los Angeles has a lot of pitching depth in their system, including former top prospect Bobby Miller. Miller could be sent to St. Louis in exchange for Arenado and a boatload of cash,” wrote Pressnell. “If Miller was the return, the Cardinals would likely pay close to $30 million or $40 million to get Arenado off their books.”
Miller had a 3.76 ERA in 22 starts as a rookie. However, last season he started just 13 games in the big leagues and had an 8.52 ERA. He had a 5.06 ERA in six Triple-A starts. The Dodgers rotation is plenty deep and they could be fine without Miller. They have Tyler Glasnow and Shohei Ohtani returning to the mound. They also have Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Blake Snell.
Adding Arenado is not a necessary move, but he could be a great addition as they try to win back-to-back World Series titles. He is an eight-time All-Star, five-time Silver Slugger, 10-time Gold Glover and six-time Platinum Glover.
