Chiefs $3 million 26-year-old predicted to leave KC after season

The Kansas City Chiefs have three games left in the regular season before the real action begins.

Kansas City is looking to win its third straight Super Bowl title and is 13-1 on the season. The Chiefs entered the 2024 season with some holes on the roster despite winning two straight Super Bowls. Then injuries popped up which made things more difficult.

While this is the case, Kansas City has gotten creative throughout the season to bring talent back to the franchise to help it get through and continue to rack up wins. Once the season ends, some players surely will end up playing elsewhere, though, even if the Chiefs win the Super Bowl.

FanSided’s Devon Platana made a list of four players who could end up being on the move after the season and mentioned 26-year-old edge Josh Uche.

“Chiefs Kingdom had some high expectations for Josh Uche after he was brought to Kansas City ahead of the NFL trade deadline,” Platana said. “After all, the Chiefs wanted to improve their pass rush and Uche seemed like the perfect candidate to help. The former Michigan Wolverine had racked up 20.5 sacks with the New England Patriots since 2020 and had already tallied 10 solo tackles and a pair of sacks in seven games this season before the trade.

“Unfortunately, Uche hasn’t even come close to meeting expectations. He’s been held to 37 defensive snaps in five games thus far, only registering two solo tackles along the way. It’s clear that defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo isn’t a big fan of the veteran defender, as proven by Uche being a healthy scratch in Weeks 14 and 15. Uche’s outlook won’t improve as long as he’s stuck on the sidelines…So, consider Saturday’s game Uche’s final one in Kansas City. That is, if he even ends up playing.”

The Chiefs acquired Uche in a trade with the New England Patriots but things haven’t worked out too well yet. He’s cheap and is making just $3 million this season, but things haven’t gone as planned. Hopefully, he can turn things around down the stretch.
