Lakers predicted to part with $175 million superstar, ‘let Bron and Bronny cook’

With the Los Angeles Lakers moving backward as a franchise, a shocking trade may be in order this season.

The Lakers may go viral by trading their superstar big man and going in an unexpected direction.

“This season was all about Bron (LeBron James) playing with Bronny (James),” 19-year NBA veteran Paul Pierce said on the KG Certified podcast Friday.

“And we wanted to all see that. We want to see a little more of that, but I had no expectations. …It’s the same personnel as last year. You brought in a rookie coach.”

“I don’t think it’s nothing they can do. I think it is what it is. Enjoy the greatness of LeBron while you can. If you can trade AD (Anthony Davis) and maybe get some pieces for the future, maybe you do that.”

“You trade AD then you bring Bronny up for the rest of the season and let them cook.

“That’s what you gotta do. Let Bron and Bronny cook, trade AD and let (Dalton) Knecht and the young guys cook.”

The Lakers are making headlines for all the wrong reasons this season, but Davis should be commended for embracing a large workload in Year 13.

Despite playing out of position and receiving little to no assistance in the low post, Davis is enjoying a stellar 2024-25 campaign, averaging 27.3 points, 11.2 assists, and 2.0 blocks per contest on 52.7% shooting from the field.

As an outstanding paint operator willing to fight for advantageous offensive positioning and challenge any shot at the rim, Davis is a handful for opponents nightly.

Knecht and the James gang likely aren’t going anywhere anytime soon, but why can’t the same be said for Davis?

Sure, the Lakers don’t look like championship contenders now, but with an A+ performance during the trade season, the organization could return to the hunt in the Western Conference.

Eventually, Los Angeles will have to make future-driven moves, but in the present, they shouldn’t cut ties with an asset who could help orchestrate a successful playoff run with the right pieces around him.
