Roy Keane hammers Kyle Walker over ’embarrassing’ Manchester derby antics

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane slammed Manchester City skipper Kyle Walker during the Red Devils 2-1 derby comeback win at the Etihad Stadium.

Goals in the final minutes from Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo turned the game on its head as United won a Premier League game at their cross-city rivals for the first time since 2021.

Ruben Amorim claimed his team channelled the power of ‘Fergie Time’ to seal victory in an incident-packed game.

Amongst a host of first-half clashes, Walker tangled with United striker Rasmus Hojlund, after challenging for a high ball just before the break.

Referee Anthony Taylor booked both players over the incident, but Keane felt Walker made a meal out of the situation, despite claims Hojlund could have been sent off.

“[Could it have been a red card?] Yeah, to Walker. This type of thing is going to happen in a game, a bit of argy-bargy,” he said on Sky Sports.

“He’s obviously been blocked, but we’re talking about Walker, and of course it’s a foul against him. Hojlund goes over, but Walker must be embarrassed by himself here, to go down like that!

“He’s an experienced player, there’s no contact, look at this – I don’t know the guy, but I’m embarrassed for him.”

Hojlund also poked fun at Walker on social media after the game with City’s captain left furious by their late collapse.

After being less than five minutes away from a huge victory, Pep Guardiola’s team have now won just one of their last 11 games in all competitions, ahead of travelling to Aston Villa in EPL action on December 21.
