The Kansas City Chiefs have been looking for ways to add depth to the organization all season.
Despite an impressive 12-1 record, the Chiefs still aren’t at full strength. Kansas City has dealt with injuries all season and the wide receiver room has taken a serious hit. In response, the Chiefs have brought in players like DeAndre Hopkins to lighten the load.
Could another move be on the way?
Three-time Pro Bowler Odell Beckham, Jr. has spent the 2024 season with the Miami Dolphins but it has been a lost year for him. He dealt with some injuries of his own and has appeared in just nine games this year. Over that stretch, he has nine catches for 55 yards.
Miami and Beckham “mutually agreed” to part ways on Friday, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
“The Dolphins and three-time Pro Bowl WR Odell Beckham Jr. have mutually agreed to part ways, per sources,” Pelissero said. “Beckham is hoping for more opportunities elsewhere and the team is granting his release. He’ll be on waivers until Monday.”
He will be available soon for teams to try to bring in and Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio already suggested the Chiefs as a fit.
“If he clears waivers, he becomes a free agent,” Florio said. “It’s unclear whether he’d command anything more than the prorated veteran minimum of $1.21 million. Playoff teams that could use help at the position include the (Pittsburgh Steelers) and Chiefs.”
He may not be what he once was, but it couldn’t hurt to bring another veteran receiver to town with playoff experience and a Super Bowl ring.
