Jose Mourinho drops major hint: A Real Madrid return on the cards?

Jose Mourinho has hinted he might be open to a return to Real Madrid. Speaking in a recent interview, the Portuguese coach didn’t hold back his admiration for the Spanish giants, describing himself as “a big fan” of the club.

Mourinho’s connection with Madrid runs deep. Between 2010 and 2013, he led the team to victory in La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup.

Despite leaving over a decade ago, his bond with the Bernabeu faithful remains strong. Now, as current coach Carlo Ancelotti faces an uncertain future, Mourinho’s name has surfaced as a possible successor.

When asked about coaching Madrid again, Mourinho didn’t dismiss the idea. “They have the best coach in the world, my friend Carlo,” he said.

“The future depends on what the president wants. Whether it’s a young coach like Xabi [Alonso], someone experienced like Carlo, or someone from the youth setup, Florentino [Perez] will decide.”

Who can replace Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid next?

President Florentino Perez is known for making bold decisions. With Ancelotti’s contract set to end in 2026, speculation about his replacement has been mounting.

Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso, a former Madrid player under Mourinho, is one of the top names being considered.

Other potential candidates include club legends like Raul and Alvaro Arbeloa, both of whom have been working with Madrid’s youth teams.

Mourinho expressed full confidence in Perez’s judgment. “Florentino hasn’t made many wrong decisions at Madrid,” he said. “I’m certain his next choice will be the right one.”

As Mourinho currently leads Fenerbahce, his team prepares for a crucial Europa League match against Athletic Club.

Still, his words have fueled excitement among Madrid fans who wonder if “The Special One” might once again walk the sidelines of the Santiago Bernabeu.
