Fastest KO in combat sports: Justin Watson writes his name into history at BKFC 69

Justin Watson took the old adage of ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ into his own hands in his bare-knuckled bout against Cole Ferrell at BKFC 69.

In one rapid-fire punch he managed to write his name into the history books with the fastest ever knockout in combat sports.

The brutal right hand landed almost as soon as the bell sounded to start the fight, with referee Bryan Miner calling it off with just two seconds on the clock.

Watson entered into the featherweight bout as a major underdog but required just one clean punch to send his opponent crashing to the canvas.

“Two-point-nine seconds,” BKFC founder and president David Feldman said in disbelief while clutching a stop watch.

“Fastest knockout in combat sorts. Unbelievable.”

Watch the chaos unfold below:

The knockout beat the previous best time of three seconds which was boasted by Ulysses Diaz when the Cuban beat Donelei Benedetto at BKFC 14 four years ago.

“That is a world record!” Cyrus Fees said in commentary after Watson’s extraordinary punch.

“Justin Watson, the fastest knockout in combat sports.”

The victory marked the first win in three attempts in BKFC for the 37-year-old who had previously been beaten by Michael Larrimore and Dameko Labon last year.

Meanwhile, Jorge Masvisdal holds the record for the fastest finish in the UFC as his flying knee on Ben Askren came after just five seconds.

Phil Williams possesses the fastest knockout in professional boxing when he beat Brandon Burke in 10 seconds nearly two decades ago.
