LeBron James’ 11th assist of the night sealed the deal for the Los Angeles Lakers’ 123-120 win over the Toronto Raptors, but it came at the cost of a very notable streak.
Finishing with just eight points, James’ streak of 1,297 games in a row with at least 10 points was snapped. After a couple of close calls this season, James’ streak finally ends in his 23rd season.
Per StatMuse and Underdog, the last time James scored less than 10 points — Jan. 5, 2007 — the following reigned true in that timeframe:
- Twitter was less than a year old
- Bronny was 2 years old
- Cooper Flagg was 15 days old
- George W. Bush was president
- The iPhone hadn’t been released yet
- Luka Doncic was 7 years old
- Kevin Durant wasn’t in the NBA yet
- The Cowboys had the same amount of NFC title game appearances
To think that that much time has passed since a “bad game” from James is a true testament to his all-time greatness. However, this season shows that Father Time may finally be rearing its ugly head on James’ career.
He’s averaging just 15.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game this season, as his role with the Lakers continues to diminish. Nonetheless, James will look to turn around his early struggles as he and the Lakers seek championship glory in the 2025-26 season.
