49ers coach has plenty of praise for Browns’ Shedeur Sanders

The San Francisco 49ers will be going into a strange game against the Cleveland Browns for a few different reasons.

Not only has the team been banged up on the defensive and offensive sides of the football, but this will be Shedeur Sanders’ second start in the NFL, and his first one in front of the Cleveland faithful at Huntington Bank Field in the regular season.

It will be interesting to see what Sanders looks like, but it sounds like the 49ers are really preparing for him to be something that many thought he could be coming out of Colorado.

When speaking to reporters about what he’s looking for Sanders to do in this game, defensive coordinator Robert Saleh admitted that he’s very young, very good, and that he likes a lot of the traits Sanders possesses as a quarterback.

“He’s a good, young quarterback. He’s mobile, he’s got a big arm, tremendous confidence,” said Saleh, per the 49ers. “He made a couple of really, really good throws in the game against Vegas, extending plays, getting out of the pocket, delivering the ball where it needed to be delivered.

“Obviously, he showed good command of the huddle and at the line of scrimmage. You anticipate someone like him who’s got that confidence, who has that skill set, he’s just going to get better and better every week.”

It would be quite wild to see Sanders come out and tear the 49ers up, but it would also be a bit surprising.

Nonetheless, it’s always a possibility, and it seems like Saleh and the defense understand that.
