NFC North standings: How wins by Bears, Packers affect divisional race in Week 11

The NFC North standings have changed with the seasons, with the Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers contending for the top prize through the opening 10 weeks of the season.

Week 11 added new contours to the mix. Chicago landed a major blow on the Vikings’ playoff chances with yet another last-second win, while the Packers overcame an 11-point deficit to vanquish the Giants away from home.  Meanwhile, the Lions couldn’t solve a difficult Philadelphia Eagles defense on “Sunday Night Football.”

All that amounted to a topsy-turvy day in one of the NFC’s most competitive divisions. Here’s how things are shaping up following a wacky Week 11 slate.

NFC North standings

Team Record
Bears 7-3
Packers 6-3-1
Lions 6-4
Vikings 4-6

The Lions and Bears entered the weekend with matching 6-3 records, with Detroit placing higher in the divisional rankings on head-to-head record. Chicago moved a half-game ahead of its adversary with a hard-fought win over Minnesota on Sunday afternoon, then a full gam up after the Lions lost to the Eagles.

Further down the table, Green Bay landed a decisive victory over the Giants, moving to 6-3-1 on the year. That allowed the Packers to jump ahead of the Lions after Detroit’s loss to Philadelphia, putting the Lions down in third place.

Minnesota brings up the rear of the division, having fallen to 4-6 with its defeat to the Packers. A wild-card berth remains possible for the Vikings. But defeats in their last two games leave them cut adrift from the rest of the pack.
