The Buffalo Bills are in damage control after the horror 30-13 loss to the Miami Dolphins, and it appears that the football gods have a twisted sense of humor.
A day after the Bills’ offense looked wobbly yet again, the New York Giants fired head coach Brian Daboll. Why does that matter? Daboll was the Bills’ offensive coordinator from 2018 through 2021.
But if you thought the Bills could be interested in a reunion, think again.
When asked whether he has full faith in Joe Brady as offensive coordinator, head coach Sean McDermott responded definitively.
“Yes,” McDermott said.
But would the franchise look at possibly adding Daboll to the staff?
“No,” McDermott added. “Brian’s a great coach. Unfortunate to see that happen to him. At this point, that’s not under any type of consideration.”
Well, there you go — door slammed shut on a Daboll reunion.

Bills’ Joe Brady on thin ice?
For some, yes; others, no.
Let’s not forget, after the win over the Kansas City Chiefs, the Bills were “back” and on the Super Bowl hunt.
But it appears that might have been an outlier, with the same issues that plagued the Bills against the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons resurfacing against Miami.
The passing game has struggled, and usually James Cook picks up the slack in the run game, but when he can’t get rolling, the passing game needs to help out —and it couldn’t against the Dolphins.
So until the passing game with Josh Allen begins to find some sort of consistency, questions will remain about Brady as the offensive coordinator.
And as long as Daboll is out there, many will naturally want a reunion.
It isn’t happening now, but that’s not to say it can’t happen down the road.
