Dodgers shake up Game 5 lineup, move Mookie Betts down amid slump

Dodgers shake up Game 5 lineup, move Mookie Betts down amid slump

While traveling back to Toronto for Game 6 of the World Series, the Los Angeles Dodgers are in a win-or-go-home mentality.

The Dodgers dropped Games 4 and 5 at home after the 18-inning classic on Monday night, and Los Angeles has put together just four runs in the past 29 innings played.

Something didn’t seem right, and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts felt it was time to make a change to the batting order for Game 6 on Halloween night.

Dodgers make lineup change for Game 6, moving Mookie Betts down in the lineup

The Dodgers unveiled their lineup for Game 5, which features a pitching matchup between Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Kevin Gausman. Los Angeles has catcher Will Smith in the No. 2 spot and shifted Mookie Betts to fourth in the order, according to team reporter Kirsten Watson.

Los Angeles has shuffled the two through four sports in recent games as the team looks to break out of its slump. Betts has recorded two hits over his last 19 at-bats.

Center fielder Andy Pages will remain out of the starting lineup while he takes on a slump of his own. Through 50 at-bats this postseason, the usual starter has tallied just four hits, making for a .080 batting average in October.

Tommy Edman will start in center field and bat eighth, while Miguel Rojas will take over at second base and hit ninth.

With the latest lineup changes, the Dodgers are hoping to spark their offense as they chase a second straight World Series title. Meanwhile, the Blue Jays aim to maintain their balanced play in their first appearance in the series since the early 1990s.
