Why Mo Salah isn’t playing tonight for Liverpool with latest team news

Liverpool will have to advance in the cup without its Egyptian superstar.

Mo Salah isn’t in the side at all for Wednesday’s League Cup tie with Crystal Palace. He’s not even on the substitutes list for Arne Slot.

Liverpool will be shorthanded at the front and the back. Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike sit out from the strike force, and Alisson isn’t in in goal.

There is very little first-team experience in the side, and Liverpool will have a tough task on its hands against Crystal Palace.

Why isn’t Mo Salah playing tonight?

Mo Salah is out of the Liverpool side for squad rotation.

At least publicly, no injury is known for Salah.

Liverpool has chosen to prioritize other competitions, and Salah will be rested for the full 90 minutes here in the midweek.

Up next for Liverpool is a Premier League match with Aston Villa on Saturday. Then next week, it’s a clash of titans with Real Madrid in the Champions League, followed with a huge showdown in the league against Manchester City before everyone goes on international break.

By resting Salah against Palace in the cup, Liverpool helps ensure he’ll be good to go for those big matches.
