The Dallas Cowboys and the trade deadline have been discussed thoroughly over the past couple of weeks, with fans and media personalities alike wanting the team to make several moves to help the defense.
Granted, that isn’t unusual for NFL teams, but in the case of the Cowboys, we know that there is a little bit extra attention, and for the players, particularly on defense, hearing that some want better players to replace you, that can be a hard space to live in.
So, how does head coach Brian Schottenheimer navigate these waters over the next few days with his players?
“I don’t really talk a whole lot about that,” Schottenheimer said. “I just focus on trusting the process. There’s always going to be noise, and these guys can’t control the noise any less or more than we can. There’s always going to be speculation and things like that. But our focus is truly just on one day at a time, get ready for Arizona. I don’t go too much into that.”

Should Cowboys make a trade before the deadline?
The answer to that question depends on who you ask.
There are some who want the Cowboys to make several moves, not only for this year, but next as well, to help the defense.
Others want the Cowboys to keep the picks, to then fully attack the offseason with the sole focus being defense, and this avenue sees Dallas extend George Pickens to complete the offense.
I see both sides of the coin, and I would be interested in a player who can help this year and next, but not a rental, say Breece Hall or DeMario Davis.
In truth, this defense isn’t one player away from being fixed, in truth, that number is more around four or five and you aren’t likely getting that volume in right now, so Dallas does have a decision to make, and yes, there are reinforcements coming such as DeMarvion Overshow, but it is unfair to expect him to be the saving grace, so too Shavon Revel Jr.
Will the Cowboys be buyers before the deadline? Your guess is as good as mine.
