Stephen Curry family tree: Meet wife Ayesha, kids, broadcaster dad Dell, NBA brother Seth and more

JUMP TO:

The Golden State Warriors drafted Stephen Curry with the seventh overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. Curry grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, and watched his father, Dell, play for the Charlotte Hornets.

Curry was highly criticized during his college career for his size. He was 6-2 and scrawny, but was still given a chance to develop by Golden State. Sixteen years later, the veteran point guard heads into the 2025-2026 season with four championship rings, two MVP Awards, an NBA Finals MVP Award and 11 All-Star nods.

Curry has made a name for himself in the NBA, which has been tough because not only did his father play in the NBA, but his brother Seth joined the league as well. Here is more on Curry’s family, including his wife, children, dad and brother.

Stephen Curry wife: Ayesha Curry

Curry’s wife is Ayesha Curry. The two have been involved in each other’s lives for more than two decades, with Stephen meeting Ayesha while attending the same church in Charlotte when they were teenagers.

We were just kids,” Ayesha told People Magazine. “He was the cute boy at church that all of the girls were obsessed with, so I made a generalization that maybe he wasn’t for me.”

They rekindled their relationship in 2008 when Ayesha moved to Los Angeles to pursue a modeling career and Stephen was recognized with a Best Breakout Athlete nod at the ESPYs. They started dating later that year. In 2010, Stephen proposed to Ayesha, dropping to one knee while standing on Ayesha’s family’s driveway — the same place they shared their first kiss.

The couple were wed in July 2011 and had their first child, Riley, in 2012.

Stephen Curry kids

Riley Curry

Riley Curry is the Stephen Curry’s oldest daughter. She was born on July 19, 2012.

Riley has become something of a social media darling over the years, first coming to prominence during the 2015 Western Conference Finals. The then-three-year-old commandeered the microphone following a 34-point Curry outburst in a Game 1 win. Suffice to say, she left her mark, offering quips, squeals and a yawn. Riley even played peek-a-boo with Curry for a fleeting — and glorious — moment.

Riley Curry looks a lot different nowadays. She shares a striking resemblance to her father — her appearance at the 2025 Play-In Tournament made that fact abundantly clear.

Still, she looks to be attempting to plot her own path for herself. Riley Curry is a budding volleyball talent, having spurned her father’s trade for one of her own.

“She’s found something she loves,” Curry told People Magazine in 2023. “And she’s passionate about it, and she loves to work at it.”

Ryan Curry

Curry’s middle daughter is Ryan Curry. She was born on July 10, 2015.

Riley Curry has been a fixture at her father’s games over the years, although Stephen Curry said she has yet to decide whether she wants to pursue the craft herself. She appears to have a strong relationship with both of her parents; during a 2019 episode of “Stephen vs. The Game”, her father was recorded putting her hair in a ponytail. Riley also shared a sweet moment with her mother in 2020 — the two shared an embrace after receiving an outfit from Beyonce via her Ivy Park apparel brand.

Canon Curry

Curry’s eldest son is Canon Curry. He was born on July 2, 2018.

Canon is perhaps the most rambunctious of Curry’s children. Named after the French word for young wolf, Canon’s personality shines through in any setting he traipses into. He reportedly even thought his father was a professional golfer during the pandemic; such was the amount of time Curry spent on the link.

“He’s just now realizing that his dad and his uncles play basketball,” Ayesha Curry told People Magazine in 2022. “So that’s been exciting for us.”

He seems to be following in his father’s footsteps, gravitating to the hardwood at a young age; his mother caught him completing a two-ball workout at the tender age of three.

Caius Curry

Curry’s youngest son in Caius Curry. He was born on May 11, 2024.

The family planned Caius’ birth to coincide around the start of the 2024 Paris Olympics. Caius was in attendance when Curry exploded for eight threes to help the Americans down the French and clinch a gold medal.

Stephen Curry dad: Dell Curry

Curry’s father is Dell Curry. You’ve probably heard of him before; Dell Curry is the Charlotte Hornets’ all-time leading scorer and three-point shooter. He enjoyed a 16-year NBA career, turning out for the Utah Jazz, Cleveland Cavaliers, Milwaukee Bucks and Toronto Raptors in addition to his 11-year spell in Charlotte.

During his Toronto years, Stephen Curry was granted access to the floor, allowing him to test his wits against future Hall of Famers Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady, among others. It helped forge a competitive spirit in him that has pushed him to unprecedented heights as a professional.

Dell Curry remains a popular figure in the Queen City, lending his services as a color commentator during Hornets broadcasts. He spent a brief spell on Charlotte’s bench as an assistant coach, although he left the position to watch his sons’ games.

Stephen Curry mom: Sonya Curry

Curry’s mother is Sonya Curry. A Radford, Vir. native, Sonya Curry shined at Virginia Tech as a volleyball player. It was there where she met Dell Curry, who she married in 1988.

An educator, Sonya Curry founded her own Montessori School in North Carolina that her children attended. She has remained a popular figure throughout her sons’ playing careers, routinely being video-taped enjoying games from the stands.

Sonya Curry and Dell Curry announced their divorce in 2021 after 33 years of marriage. The split was finalized in Nov. 2021.

Stephen Curry brother: Seth Curry

Curry’s brother is Seth Curry. He, too, is a sharp-shooter, although not quite at his older brother’s caliber.

Seth Curry starred at Liberty before transferring to Duke, where he established himself as one of college basketball’s most gifted marksmen. His name wasn’t called during the 2013 NBA Draft. But he found his way on an NBA roster, first popping up on the Memphis Grizzlies after a stint on the G-League’s Santa Cruz Warriors.

Seth Curry is an 11-year NBA veteran who has quietly emerged as one of the most efficient shooters in league history. He ranks seventh all-time in career three-point field goal percentage.

Never a star, Seth Curry has worn nine jerseys during his NBA career. He enjoyed his best season in 2021-22, averaging 15.0 points, 3.6 assists and 3.1 rebounds across 64 games with the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets.

Currently unsigned, Seth Curry is expected to sign with the Golden State Warriors once cap room opens up in November.

Stephen Curry sister: Sydel Curry-Lee

Curry’s sister is Sydel Curry-Lee. She, too, is an athlete, having played volleyball at Elon from 2014-2016. Curry-Lee led the CAA in assists twice and earned team MVP honors in 2016. In 2017, she retired from the sport after suffering a knee injury.

Sydel Curry-Lee has found plenty of success in her post-playing career. She co-hosts the “Straight to Cam” podcast with longtime family friend Cameron Brink.

Basketball is never far from her life, either. Not only are her father and brothers NBA alums. So is her husband, Damion Lee.

Stephen Curry brother-in-law: Damion Lee

Curry’s brother-in-law is Damion Lee. He is married to Sydel Curry-Lee.

A Baltimore native, Lee played four years at Drexel before transferring Louisville. He went undrafted in 2016 but eventually found a spot on the Warriors, where he claimed an NBA title alongside Curry. That offseason, he inked a multi-year deal with the Phoenix Suns.

Much like Sonya Curry and Sydel Curry-Lee, Rivers, too, played collegiate volleyball, starring as an outside hitter at SEC powerhouse Florida from 2007-2010. Rivers briefly played professional volleyball in Puerto Rico before settling into life as a mother and podcast host — Rivers stars on “Bachelor Party”, a reality television-centered program.
