Giants make decision on trading Kayvon Thibodeaux

Kayvon Thibodeaux’s name has been in New York Giants trade rumors since the summer.

It sounds like that was without merit, though.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports that the Giants don’t intend to trade Thibodeaux before the Nov. 4 deadline.

“Spoke to a few teams that reached out to the #Giants on Kayvon Thibodeaux and they’ve been told there’s no interest in trading him, sources say,” Garafolo wrote on X. “Thibodeaux is under contract through next season after the team picked up his fifth-year option and they intend on having him in 2026.”

The Giants have an immensely talented pass-rushing group with Thibodeaux, Brian Burns and Abdul Carter, along with Dexter Lawrence leading the way on the interior.

Thibodeaux was the No. 5 overall pick in 2022 out of Oregon.

He has played 51 games for the Giants, through Week 8 of the 2025 season. He has 23.5 sacks (including two this year) and 31 tackles for loss, along with six forced fumbles.

The Giants’ 2025 season may be slowly crumbling, but they have a lot of belief for the future that centers on the offensive side around promising rookie QB Jaxson Dart.

New York wants to give itself a chance to compete for a playoff spot in 2026. Trading Thibodeaux wouldn’t help in that pursuit.

The Giants are taking a risk by keeping Thibodeaux, but it’s a calculated one. They believe he’s a player worth having for the rest of this season and into next season, too.
