Manchester United have won three games on the bounce and have soared up to the sixth spot in the Premier League points table.
After a horrible start to the 2025/26 campaign, Ruben Amorim has turned the tables for the Red Devils with wins over Sunderland, Liverpool and Brighton.
Now, riding this positive run of game, United are still in the market for a solid midfielder after they missed out on signing Carlos Baleba this summer.
They have made a shortlist of midfielders with plenty of options and among the top candidate has to be Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson.
The 22-year-old has been one of the brightest English talents in recent years and he is Forest’s most prized possession.
According to reports via Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United have added Anderson to their midfield shortlist, but Forest may demand as much as £100–120m ($133.2-159.8m) for the England international next summer.

Apart from Man United, Newcastle United are also interested in their former academy graduate who left the Tyneside outfit in 2024.
Why are Man United chasing Forest midfield maestro Elliot Anderson?
A lot has been said about Amorim’s system this season where the midfield pivot becomes exceptionally important.
The Portuguese manager has preferred the likes of Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes in the pivot with the likes of Manuel Ugarte being the only backup in that position.
Therefore, they need someone who could control the tempo in midfield whilst winning duels and also helping in buildup for United.
Anderson has everything that United need in a midfield as the Englishman has the potential to be one of the most technical players in the world in his position.
The 22-year-old brings relentless energy to this United roster as he covers long distance in the middle and also known for his passing range and ball carrying abilities.
His consistency and performances were duly rewarded by England manager Thomas Tuchel, who has made him a cornerstone for the Three Lions, pairing him in midfield with Declan Rice ahead of next year’s World Cup.
Apart from Anderson, United are also keeping close tabs on Sporting CP’s Morten Hjulmand, Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller, Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton and Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga.
Overall, Anderson looks the most well-rounded option for United among these players albeit being the most expensive.
Therefore, United and Newcastle will closely monitor the 22-year-old midfielder and given Nottingham Forest’s situation currently, there’s a slight scope of the price tag coming down if they fail to stay up in the Premier League.
