Liverpool’s woes have continued to deepen following their weekend Premier League defeat at Brentford.
Arne Slot is in the middle of the worst run of form in his managerial career as defeat to arch rivals Manchester United on October 19 meant the defending champions had lost four successive matches and the situation worsened at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Goals from Dango Ouattara, Kevin Shade and Igor Thiago meant the Reds have now lost four in a row in the Premier League for the first time since 2021.
Victory at Eintracht Frankfurt has been the sole recent positive with Slot admitting he is short on answers over the situation.
Veteran defender Andy Robertson claimed the team lacked structure at Brentford as Slot continues struggle to find a system that gets the best from his new signings.
However, it’s not just the fresh faces that have come in for criticism, star pair Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah have been off-form with the latter benched in Frankfurt before returning against Keith Andrews’ side.

Salah has registered just three league goals so far this season and captain Van Dijk has been part of defence which has failed to keep a clean sheet in their last nine outings – with the Dutchman also conceding a penalty against the Bees.
Rooney calls out Salah and Van Dijk over Liverpool losses
The duo both opted to sign contract extensions until 2027 as part of Liverpool’s title run-in last season but those calls are no being questions with former Premier League star Wayne Rooney leading the critique.
“No one saw this coming, it’s hit them quick, it’s hit them hard and I think they’re struggling to find a way out of it,” he told The Wayne Rooney Show,
“This is a time where the manager and the leaders in the team need to figure it out very quickly. Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, they’ve signed new deals, but I don’t think they’ve really led that team this season.
“I think body language tells you a lot, and I think we’re seeing slightly different body language from the two of them. They are the top two players in that team and if their body language is not right, that affects everyone.”
Slot hinted that an incoming run of home games could steady his team ahead of clashes with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Real Madrid.
