Nuno Mendes drops truth bomb about PSG future amid Man United links

Manchester United fans hoping to see Nuno Mendes in red might have to put those dreams on ice.

The Portuguese full-back has put an end to transfer chatter by confirming he’s staying at Paris Saint-Germain — and he sounds happier than ever in the French capital.

Mendes has been on United’s radar for over a year, with reports linking him to Old Trafford as Erik ten Hag and now Ruben Amorim search for stability at left-back.

But the 23-year-old has now made it clear that a move to England was never part of the plan.

In a recent interview (via Ouest France), he said: “No. My agent spoke a lot with the president. I always wanted to continue here, to put PSG at the top level. It was on both sides that we wanted it. It’s a pleasure to play here.”

The comment ends months of speculation and reinforces his commitment to PSG’s project under Luis Enrique.

Mendes, who extended his contract last season, has become a key figure in the team’s balance between defense and attack — something that wasn’t always his strength.

How Luis Enrique reshaped Nuno Mendes?

Mendes admitted that his early days in Paris were about pure pace and flair, but Enrique helped him polish the other side of his game.

“At the beginning, I wasn’t very strong in defense,” he said. “Luis Enrique noticed that, he helped me a lot defensively, and today I’m good on both sides.”

It’s a transformation that’s made him one of the most complete left-backs in Europe. Alongside Achraf Hakimi, he forms one of football’s most dynamic full-back duos — as dangerous going forward as they are disciplined in defense. Not bad for someone who once started his career as a winger.

The Portuguese star even joked about his position switch: “It wasn’t me who chose. It happens… But today, I feel good as a full-back — defender and attacker.”

While Manchester United reportedly remain admirers, Mendes has made his stance crystal clear. Paris is home, and for now, he’s more focused on stopping wingers than swapping shirts.
