Luka Doncic competed with the Los Angeles Lakers during the franchise’s first two regular-season games, scoring 92 combined points.
However, the 6-foot-6 star point guard was noticeably absent for the championship-contending franchise’s Sunday night game against the Sacramento Kings.
Doncic, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania, is nursing a left finger sprain and lower left leg contusion, which caused him to miss Los Angeles’ first road test of the year.
Doncic will also be unavailable for the Lakers when they face the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday night.

In addition to reporting on Doncic’s specific injuries, Charania also noted that Doncic will be out for a week to allow his body to heal correctly.
After Charania’s report went public, Dr. Evan Jeffries (who’s a Doctor of Physical Therapy) provided the NBA world with his own analysis on Doncic’s injury status.
Luka Doncic will be reevaluated in one week with a left finger sprain and lower leg contusion,” Jeffries wrote on X/Twitter. “Possibly means he won’t be back in a week but will need a ramp-up period. Likely to miss approximately 5-10 games based on Lakers’ schedule.”
The consensus appears to be that Doncic, like LeBron James (sciatica), will be sidelined for Los Angeles’ next couple of games, causing the Austin Reaves show to continue for the Lake show.
