Matches between Real Madrid and Barcelona have often carried carried their own spice which can often stretch beyond the pitch and this week feels no different.
This time Barcelona’s star Lamine Yamal is in the centre of thick of things. The 18-year-old recently said that Madrid “steal and complain” during a YouTube interview promoting Gerard Piqué’s Kings League.
The remarks have quickly spread across Spanish media and has brought back memories of the many verbal duels that have preceded this historic fixture.
Madrid come into this contest at the Santiago Bernabeu two points clear of Barcelona after nine games, but Yamal’s words has added an unexpected spark to an encounter that already needed no extra fuel.
Xabi Alonso shrugs off Lamine Yamal comment

“I’m not going to get into that,” he said on Saturday when asked about Yamal’s remarks.

“There have been many statements from people in Barcelona, and we can’t respond to all of them.
What matters is the pitch, what happens on the field, where we’re coming from, what lies ahead, and how we play the match. That’s what matters most and what we’ve been working on.”
This will be the 262 meeting between both teams. Real Madrid narrowly lead the Barcelona by 105-104 with 52 matches ending in draw.
