LaMelo Ball had a magnificent Sunday night.
Taking on the Washington Wizards, the Charlotte Hornets’ superstar put up one of the best stat lines of his career.
In the process, he passed Stephen Curry on an all-time NBA record list.
First, those stats:
- 38 points
- 13 rebounds
- 13 assists
- 3 steals
LaMelo made five 3-pointers.

The record? He now has more career triple-doubles than Curry, according to StatMuse.
Sure, that’s just a medium-level achievement, because Curry isn’t exactly a triple-double machine.
But passing Curry is passing Curry. Ball is a point guard, too, although he is a much taller, lankier one who is more likely to snatch rebounds.
The bigger takeaway is really just the way LaMelo chose to dominate start to finish.
The Hornets were playing without Brandon Miller, so Ball’s right-hand man wasn’t on the court with him at all.
Ball chose to seize the opportunity and do it all himself, and it worked in a strong win.
