The Toronto Blue Jays had one of the deepest pitching rotations in baseball this year.
That can be emphasized by the fact that two of their best starting pitchers from the regular season, Chris Bassitt and Eric Lauer, are spending the World Series in the bullpen.
But one guy is missing altogether: Jose Berrios.
He’s nowhere to be found, and no, it’s not just because you’re not paying attention.

Why isn’t Jose Berrios pitching?
Jose Berrios isn’t pitching because he isn’t on the Blue Jays’ World Series roster.
Berrios entered the postseason dealing with an elbow injury, and he ended up not making it onto the roster for the ALDS, ALCS or World Series.
Sportsnet’s Ben Nicholson-Smith had reported before the ALDS that Berrios had no structural damage in his elbow, but apparently the right-hander couldn’t get back in shape in time to get back on the mound.
The Blue Jays don’t necessarily need more arms, but it’s still a missed chance for Berrios.
He was good enough in the regular season to be here, going 9-5 with a 4.17 ERA. The 31-year old is a two-time All Star from his days with the Minnesota Twins.
This is Berrios’ fifth season with Toronto, where he’s been mostly solid.
But in the World Series, there’s no Berrios. All he can do is watch and root on his teammates.
