World Series Game 2 final scores, result: L.A. evens series behind Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s dominant complete game

JUMP TO:

After falling victim to a barrage of hits and home runs during a bullpen meltdown in Game 1, the Los Angeles Dodgers were in desperate need for a steady showing from its arms in Game 2.

They needed not fret, however. Their highest-profile twirler, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, sparkled beneath the glint Rogers Centre spotlight, recording a complete game four-hitter. Yamamoto’s showcase, coupled with strong offensive outbursts by Will Smith and Max Muncy, pushed the Dodgers to a 5-1 on Saturday night to level the World Series at one game apiece.

Yamamoto was a force on the mound, whiffing eight batters while retiring each of the last 18 hitters he faced.

Smith lit the fire with an RBI single in the first inning. He added to his exploits with a go-ahead home run in the top of the seventh.

Yamamoto’s dominance ensured that Smith’s homer was all that was needed to secure the win.

The Sporting News tracked live updates from Game 2 between the Dodgers and the Blue Jays. Below are highlights, analysis and more from Yamamoto’s gem.
