The Cleveland Browns traveled to Foxborough on Sunday to face the New England Patriots with the Browns entering with a 2-5 record and the Patriots with a 5-2 record.
Many fans have been wondering all year long when they might see Browns’ rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders on the field, and they’ll have to keep waiting.
The Browns released their final injury report on Sunday morning, and Sanders will miss the game with an injury.
Sanders ruled out vs. Patriots with injury
Sanders was ruled questionable at the end of the week as his back tightened up. On Sunday morning, ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed Sanders will be inactive on Sunday with that back tightness injury.
According to multiple reports, Sander went through a pre-game warmup with quarterback coach Bill Musgrave to test his back on the field, but has now been deemed inactive.

The Browns will start fellow rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who will make his fourth start of the season. On other injury news, after being questionable coming into the game, Browns’ tight end David Njoku will suit up against the Patriots.
The Browns drafted Sanders in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft and he made a preseason start, but has yet to make his NFL debut.

There was a rumor earlier this week that the Browns plan is to start Sanders the final four weeks of the season to see what he’s got, if the season continues to go downhill and Cleveland isn’t playing for anything.
For now, Browns’ fans and Sanders’ fans will just have to wait and see for when the former Colorado Buffalo will get to make his NFL debut.
