Drake Batherson is keeping great company.
The Ottawa Senators have had some incredible right wingers through the years. And now, in one way, Batherson can call himself part of that group.
On Saturday night, Batherson reached 300 career points.
He’s the fourth full-time right wing to reach that mark for the Senators, according to Luke Wells.
The first three: Daniel Alfredsson, Marian Hossa and Mark Stone.
Yeah, not a bad club to join.
Batherson has made a great rise from his career start.
The Senators drafted him No. 121 overall in the fourth round of the 2017 draft.
The Fort Wayne, Indiana native was playing for the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles when he was taken by the Senators.
Batherson broke into the NHL in 2018-19 and was a part-time player for a couple seasons before really getting to be a full-time guy.
Last season, Batherson had a career-high 68 points, with 26 goals and 42 assists.
He entered Saturday night with 297 career points.
Then, Batherson went out and scored two goals and added an assist in a 7-1 win over the Washington Capitals.
It was a great night for the Senators overall, and Batherson certainly enjoyed it.
