The Los Angeles Dodgers find themselves back in the Fall Classic. The reigning world champs will look to win back-to-back World Series’ for the first time since the New York Yankees rattled off three in a row from 1998-2000.
The Dodgers beat the Yankees in five games a year ago and now turn their attention to the Toronto Blue Jays. It is the AL representative, the Blue Jays, that has home-field advantage, meaning Game 1 will be played at the Rogers Center in Canada.
As in every playoff round, franchises are allowed a 26-man roster that must be declared before the series begins. There are exceptions with injuries, and the team can appeal to make a change, but largely, the 26-man roster is set for the series once it gets underway. Los Angeles has the highest payroll in baseball, and its lineup is expected to feature some of the sport’s best.

Los Angeles will turn to the lefty Blake Snell for Game 1 of the World Series. The veteran arm missed the majority of the regular season due to shoulder inflammation. He ended up starting 11 games and went 5-4 in those appearances with a 2.35 ERA. So far in the 2025 playoffs, he has made three starts and has allowed just two earned runs over 21 innings for a 0.88 ERA with 28 strikeouts to five walks.
The Dodgers have already named Yoshinobu Yamamoto their Game 2 starter. Yamamoto is in his second season with Los Angeles and improved on his impressive 2024 debut. He started 30 games in the regular season and finished with a 12-8 record and a 2.49 ERA. Yamamoto struck out 201 batters in just 173.2 innings of work. In the postseason so far, he has made three starts and is 2-1. Yamamoto has a 1.83 ERA and has struck out 18 and walked four in 19.2 postseason innings.
To round out the rotation for the rest of the series, Los Angeles will get to choose from Tyler Glasnow and Shohei Ohtani. Glasnow is expected to start Game 3, which would put Ohtani in Game 4, but that has not been confirmed by manager Dave Roberts yet. It can be assumed that both will start at least one game in the series.
Glasnow, a.k.a Baby Giraffe due to his 6-8 frame, started 18 games for the Dodgers this season. Similar to Snell, he dealt with shoulder inflammation that sidelined him for the majority of the regular season. When Glasnow returned, he posted a 4-3 record with a 3.19 ERA, striking out 106 in 90.1 innings. This postseason, he has started two games but made three appearances. Glasnow is still looking for his first decision, but has allowed just one earned run in 13.1 innings of work.

Ohtani, once again the front-runner to win National League MVP, will be found hitting leadoff as the designated hitter for most of the series. The dual-threat player returned to the mound this season and eased back into pitching. Los Angeles started him off with short outings and slowly ramped him up down the stretch of the regular season. Ohtani made 14 starts and pitched 47 innings. He tallied a 1-1 record with a 2.87 ERA, striking out 62 batters, and walking nine. In the 2025 postseason, he’s pitched in two games, both wins, and has a 2.25 ERA with 19 strikeouts in 12 innings.
Outside of those outstanding options, the Dodgers will either have given Snell or Yamamoto enough rest to pitch again, or could give their dominant rotation a day off if they choose to deploy a bullpen day, as we have seen them do already in this postseason.
