It isn’t a good sign when four rotational players appear on the injury report before the second game of the year.
In the New York Knicks’ case, OG Anunoby is among the game-changing assets that aren’t 100% heading into their Friday night contest against the Boston Celtics.
Is OG Anunoby playing tonight vs. the Celtics?
Anunoby is listed as probable for the Knicks with a left ankle sprain, while Karl Anthony Towns and Josh Hart are in the questionable category (Towns- quad strain, Hart-lower back). Mitchell Robinson rounds out New York’s loaded injury report, as the 7-foot big man has officially been ruled out with a left ankle injury.
Anunoby was phenomenal against the Cleveland Cavaliers to kick off the Mike Brown-era in New York.
The respected three-and-D wing put on a show on both ends, notching 24 points, grabbing 14 rebounds, and recording two steals in New York’s 119-111 victory at Madison Square Garden.
The Knicks acquired the 28-year-old NBA champion forward (Toronto Raptors) in a blockbuster 2023 trade and haven’t disappointed thus far.
Anunoby’s two-way contributions helped the Knicks break a 25-year Eastern Conference drought (he averaged 18.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game on 47.6% field goal shooting and 37.2% field goal shooting in 74 contests).
Assuming everything goes as planned, Anunoby will continue his impressive play on the hardwood against the Celtics tonight.
