Marcus Rashford has confirmed that he wants to remain at Barcelona beyond his season-long loan from Manchester United.
In an exclusive interview with ESPN, Rashford admitted he “needed a change” after spending almost the entirety of his career at Old Trafford.
Barcelona retain the option to make the 27-year-old’s loan permanent for £26.2m at the end of the season.
The England international has had an electric start to the season under Hansi Flick, registering five goals and six assists across 12 appearances in all competitions.
While Rashford’s contract at United runs until 2028, he seems clear about his intentions to continue his career in Spain.
What Rashford said
“Oh yeah, for sure,” Rashford told ESPN on Thursday (October 23) when asked about staying at Barcelona.

“I’m enjoying this football club and I think for anybody who loves football, Barcelona is one of the key clubs in the history of the game. For a player it is an honour.”
Having spent the latter half of last season on loan at Aston Villa after falling out of favour with United boss Ruben Amorim, Rashford was allowed to leave on loan once again in the summer.
His last appearance for United came in December 2024, and he believes that spending his entire career there contributed to some of his struggles.
“It was so many years in one place. People forget this, but 24 years, 23 years of my life was with Manchester United,” Rashford continued.
“So sometimes you just need a change. I think maybe this is the case with me and yeah, I’m enjoying everything.”

The striker also revealed that this summer was not the first time he spoke to the Barcelona hierarchy on a possible move.
“I just believe that things happen when they’re supposed to happen,” he added.
“It’s not the first time I spoke with Barcelona about potentially coming here, but for whatever reasons it didn’t happen in the past and now is my opportunity to make it happen.
“I feel like there’s no time like the present now. So I just take things day to day.
“The key thing for me is just to continue to improve because when you retire, you’re going to miss everything — the good stuff, the bad stuff – you’re going to miss it about the sport.
“Every day I just take it day by day and just try to improve from the day before.”
