Blue Jays announce ALCS roster vs. Mariners; No Bo Bichette

The Toronto Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners will meet in the American League Championship Series starting on Sunday night in Toronto.

On Sunday morning, the Blue Jays released their ALCS roster, and there’s one name everyone was hoping would be on it that was left off.

Blue Jays star shortstop Bo Bichette, who missed the ALDS, remains off the ALCS roster as he continues to recover from his left knee sprain.

No Bo Bichette in ALCS for Blue Jays

The Blue Jays did not have Bichette on their ALDS roster and hoped that with another week of recovery, their star shortstop might be able to return if they advanced.

However, Sunday morning revealed Bichette is still not ready to return to action.

Bichette began running this week, which was the first big step in his recovery. However, yesterday the young star was running the bases at Rogers Centre and was noticeably wincing, and walked away gingerly.

The knee is obviously still bothering Bichette and the Blue Jays decided to hold him off the roster to allow for further recovery time.

In positive news, the Blue Jays did get two starting pitcher back for the ALCS. Both Max Scherzer and Chris Bassitt returned to the roster after being left off for the ALDS.

Toronto now has six pitchers on their ALCS roster who have starting pitching experience this year. As for the position players, the roster remains the same from the ALDS.

The Mariners and Blue Jays get underway with the ALCS on Sunday night at Rogers Centre.
