Bernardo Silva could follow Man City legend’s footsteps amid interest from Serie A

Manchester City star Bernardo Silva has reportedly attracted interest from Serie A, with his current contract at the Etihad set to expire next summer.

Man City parted ways with some of their stars, including Kevin De Bruyne, Ederson, and Kyle Walker, this summer.

Silva became Man City’s captain following the departure of club legend De Bruyne, who joined Napoli after a decade-long tenure at the Etihad.

Despite receiving the armband and remaining a key player in head coach Pep Guardiola’s squad, Silva has been linked with a move away from Man City.

During a press conference, Silva addressed questions about his future, mentioning that he ‘exactly knows’ what he is ‘going to do,’ and said,

“I know exactly what I’m going to do but it’s not the time to talk about it. It’s time to focus on City to try to do my best to put the club back where it belongs,” as per GOAL.

“In regard to my contract, I’m really focused on doing a proper season with Man City and being as well as possible to perform and to bring back the team and the club to the level where it deserves to be in the world.”

Now, reports have suggested that two Serie A sides are interested in signing Silva, who could also make the move to Italy, like his former teammate, De Bruyne.

Which Serie A clubs are interested in Man City’s Bernardo Silva?

A report from Calciomercato has suggested that Juventus and AC Milan have been in touch with Silva’s agent, making enquiries over a potential transfer.

While Silva’s current net salary of €10 million (£9m/$11m) at City might be a bit much for the Serie A clubs, the Portuguese star has also reportedly received lucrative offers from Saudi Arabian clubs.

Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have also previously made offers to acquire Silva’s signature, while his boyhood club Benfica are interested in a reunion with their academy graduate, as per several reports.

Since his arrival in 2017, Silva has registered 416 appearances for Man City during which he netted 72 goals and provided 74 assists, while winning 19 trophies, including six Premier League titles and the club’s first-ever Champions League title.
