The San Francisco Giants had a mediocre year; they finished 81-81, and third in the NL West. They need to figure out how to get out of mediocrity, and back to being a contender.
Fansided’s Mark Powell believes the Giants can take a step in the right direction by targeting another starting pitcher for their rotation. He believes the Giants could be a dark horse for San Diego Padres ace Michael King.

“A team to watch for King is the San Francisco Giants. Buster Posey hasn’t exactly made it a secret that they’ll be targeting starting pitching this winter. Posey and Co. should be very familiar with King at this point, and he’d make an excellent fit at the pitcher-friendly Oracle Park,” Powell wrote.
This season, King finished with 3.44 ERA, 76 Ks, and a WHIP of 1.2 over 15 games. He was injured for a majority of the year, so he didn’t have a chance to return to his normal sub-three ERA self.

If the Giants could get their hands on King, it would be great for two reasons: One, they get an ace to pair with Logan Webb at the top of their rotation. Two, they directly hurt a division rival in the Padres, who would lose a key piece of their starting rotation.
Hopefully, King does opt out of his contract, and the Giants are the first on the phone to try and retake their position as a contender in the NL West.
