Chiefs vs. Jaguars final score, result: Jacksonville stuns Kansas City after Trevor Lawrence’s last-minute TD

Trevor Lawrence stumbled, bumbled and fell to the canvas during the Jacksonville Jaguars’ final drive of their “Monday Night Football” clash with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Then, he got up.

The Jaguars quarterback wasn’t quite faultless on Monday night. But when the result hung in the balance and Jacksonville needed a hero, its former No. 1 pick delivered. Lawrence powered the Jaguars to a 31-28 victory over the Chiefs on Monday night, capping off his splendid display in style.

With 1:45 left and the Jags down four, Lawrence and Co, trotted onto the field. He proceeded to spearhead a seven-play, 65-yard epic, firing precise throws to Brian Thomas Jr. and Dyami Brown in the process. A defensive pass interference call wiped away a potential Kansas City interception, setting the stage for Lawrence’s close-up with 23 seconds left.

Lawrence took a snap under center before collapsing to the floor after having his foot stepped on by one of his linemen. He writhed on the ground briefly before getting up and rolling to the left. A gap had formed around the bend, giving Lawrence just enough space to sneak into the end zone for the winning score.

It wasn’t the prettiest of displays for Lawrence, who completed 18-of-25 passes and tallied 275 total yards and three total scores but turned the ball over twice. But it didn’t need to be. Now, the Jaguars are 4-1 and cruising. Kansas City, meanwhile, is left to rue what looked to be certain victory in the game’s opening moments.

11:20 p.m.: It’s over! The Jaguars win!

11:13 p.m.: Brown doesn’t read the ball out of Mahomes’ hand. He had plenty of time but didn’t turn his head. Kansas City is down to its last chance.

11:11 p.m.: A holding penalty on the return gives Mahomes and the Chiefs a long road back to come back into the contest. Just 10 seconds left.

11:09 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! Lawrence staggers, stumbles and eventually slaloms his way into the end zone to give the Jags a late lead with 23 seconds left!

11:07 p.m.: The Chiefs looked to have secured the win via an interception. However, a defensive pass interference call gives the Jaguars new life — and four new downs.

11:05 p.m.: Another Lawrence dart has the Jaguars inside the red zone.

11:03 p.m.: Unbelievable throw from Lawrence to set up Brian Thomas Jr. along the sideline on third down. The Jaguars are way inside Chiefs territory with a little less than a minute left.

10:59 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! Kareem Hunt scores once more! The Chiefs take the lead again! Now, Jacksonville has to go down the field and find a touchdown for itself with 1:45 left.

10:56 p.m.: Mahomes rolls right, evading pressure before slipping a perfect toss to Marquise Brown. That will bring KC inside Jacksonville’s 10.

10:52 p.m.: The Chiefs are slowly but surely working their way down the field. After starting their drive with a little under eight minutes left, they’re inside Jacksonville’s 30-yard line at the two-minute warning.

10:42 p.m.: FIELD GOAL! Cam Little splits the upright from 52 out. The Jaguars take the lead with 8:08 left in regulation.

10:33 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! Kansas City makes the Jags pay! Hunt finds pay dirt from short-range as the Chiefs level the score at 21.

10:25 p.m.: INTERCEPTION! The Chiefs are right back in this one courtesy of a timely interception of Lawrence. Looks like Kansas City should’ve been whistled for pass interference. That didn’t happen. And the ball ends up in Trent McDuffie’s hands on the right side of the 50.

10:10 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! The Chiefs looked slated to retake the lead after Mahomes and Isaiah Pacheco led them down the field. However, the Jaguars struck back courtesy of a 99-yard pick six from linebacker Devin Lloyd.

9:55 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! Jacksonville’s attack is in flow state! Lawrence and Co. walked down the field with relative ease, with its quarterback slaloming beyond a heap of defenders — including Chris Jones — before walking into the end zone untouched. Tie game.

9:50 p.m.: Kansas City’s drive comes undone after a three-and-out. The Jags will have a chance to equalize.

9:45 p.m.: Here come the Chiefs for the second half! They’ll start with possession.

9:30 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! The Jaguars cut into KC’s advantage after Lawrence hits Parker Washington for a three-yard score. Although they’re down, they have shown the ability to move the ball down the field against Kansas City’s highly-touted defense. That should give them some confidence in the second half.

9:15 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! Kansas City doubles its advantage after racing down the field for 97 yards on five plays. A pair of chunk plays — a 33-yard scamper from Kareem Hunt and a 34-yard pitch-and-catch between Patrick Mahomes and Tyquan Thornton. Mahomes finishes the series in style, darting into pay dirt from distance.

9:00 p.m.: FUMBLE! The Jaguars appeared destined to find the end zone after surging all the way to Kansas City’s goal line. However, they were set back by a Trevor Lawrence fumble. Nick Bolton ripped the ball from his grasp. The subsequent effort tumbled into George Karlaftis’ hands.

8:40 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! Kelce is finally on the board! The Chiefs tight end records his first touchdown of the season as Kansas City opens up the scoring.

8:25 p.m.: Travis Hunter earns the start on defense. After a whirlwind few weeks on that side of the field, that’s a welcome sign for the No. 2 overall pick.
