What happened on Barcelona’s flight home after Sevilla humiliation

Barcelona returned to Catalonia after a heavy 4-1 defeat at Sevilla, but the mood on the plane was reportedly calm.

Despite consecutive losses in La Liga and the Champions League, the board and coaching staff remain confident in manager Hansi Flick.

According to SPORT, Barca president Joan Laporta met Flick on the flight back and reassured him of his full support.

The club is standing behind Flick’s project, believing he can turn things around and guide the team back to title contention.

The defeat in Sevilla exposed several issues. Barcelona fell 2-0 behind within the first 40 minutes, before loan star Marcus Rashford pulled one back.

Missed chances, including a penalty by Robert Lewandowski, and two late goals from Sevilla sealed the 4-1 loss.

Defender Alejandro Balde, who won a penalty after coming on, reportedly noted mistakes and a lack of ruthlessness from the team.

Flick is aware that both individual errors and collective lapses cost them the game.

What Hansi Flick said after Sevilla defeat?

Flick reportedly used the flight time to review the problems with his staff. The plan is to improve pressing and tighten defensive organization.

“I am fully convinced the situation will be reversed in the coming weeks,” Flick said, showing optimism despite the setbacks.

The German coach also emphasized that the international break would help players rest and recover, particularly key starters like Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Fermín, and Joan García.

Barcelona see the results so far as part of a normal pattern, similar to last season when injuries caused dips in form. The board believes maintaining calm is crucial as the season is still long, and early setbacks do not define the campaign.

After the break, Barca will face Girona at home, followed by Olympiacos in the Champions League.

Both matches are seen as opportunities to rebuild confidence ahead of the Clásico against Real Madrid on October 26 at the Santiago Bernabeu, a fixture that Flick considers emotionally important for the season.
