This is what everyone expected from Jacory Croskey-Merritt, more affectionately known as Bill.
Well, maybe not everyone, not initially. He was a seventh-round pick who took everyone by storm this summer.
But by Week 1, JCM was supposed to be a sleeper and potentially a star.
Through four weeks, he couldn’t even get half the backfield workload for the Washington Commanders, even after Austin Ekeler’s injury.
But in Week 5, in a dominant win over the Los Angeles Chargers, Croskey-Merritt was a star.
These were his final stats:
- 14 carries
- 111 yards
- 2 touchdowns
- 2 catches
- 39 receiving yards
JCM made the most out of basically all his carries. He was always finding some extra yardage or shedding an extra tackler.
It was clear from this performance why everyone was so excited about him.
The Commanders could still choose to mix it up going forward.
But right now, Croskey-Merritt looks like he has finally made his case as the No. 1 running back in the nation’s capital.
