Mac Jones saw a dead body ahead of matchup against the Rams

San Fransiscio 49ers and former Alabama quarterback Mac Jones had a strange occurrence happen before his matchup against the LA Rams Thursday night.

According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, Jones saw a dead body floating.

Russini picks up the story. “That morning at the team hotel in Marina del Rey, Jones told teammates he was on his balcony when he looked out at the water and saw a floating dead body. Someone called the police. As the 49ers loaded buses for the stadium, players watched investigators and even a coroner’s van pull into the marina. On Friday afternoon, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the incident was still under investigation.

The incident clearly didn’t bother Jones as he went on to throw for 342 yards, two touchdowns while leading the 49ers to a victory over the Rams.

His head coach appreciated his effort.

“He played his ass off, man,” Niners’ head coach Kyle Shanahan said after the game. “He was unbelievable in the first half. He got banged up there in the second half and battled through it. He protected the ball and, going against that defense and throwing the ball that many times, not having a turnover and protecting the ball like he did, I can’t say enough good things about Mac.”

Although many think that Jones may have started a quarterback controversy, Jones remained humble after the victory.

“They brought me here to play as a backup and that’s my job,” Jones said, via 49ers website. “Brock’s the starter of this team, and right now he’s dealing with something, and for him to go out there last week and play when you know he probably wasn’t at full health, he cares about this team. So, I’m just trying to get some wins for him so it helps us down the line, and at the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about. I’ve been in his position, I’ve been a starter, and you want your backup to go in there and win, because at the end of the season, that could be the hit or miss between a playoff or not.”
