The Toronto Maple Leafs are expected to be a team that undergoes further roster turnover as this oncoming season develops and leashes for certain players will be shorter than others.
One of those players is forward Calle Jarnkrok. The 34 year made a solid initial impression on the Leafs in his first year with the squad back in the 22-23 season in which he amassed 20 goals and 39 assists. Unfortunately since then, it has been a struggle for Jarnkrok in Toronto as he has dealt with injuries, the most recent of which kept him out for the majority of last season.
As a result, Jarnkrok is a player whose time in Toronto appears to be ticking as he enters the final year of his current contract with the team.. This is especially the case with a flurry of newcomers added to the roster over what was a busy summer in Toronto.
What is the latest on Jarnkrok?
Via insider David Pagnotta, the Leafs have reportedly attempted shopping Jarnkrok this summer in an attempt to provide a necessary change of destination for the Swede. Those calls have been unsuccessful so far as Jarnkrok for now participates in training camp still a member of the Maple Leafs.
Based on Pagnotta’s language used here, it appears the Leafs have not given up on making a future Jarnkrok move. They will continue to monitor the situation as the season develops. Perhaps some strong play on the ice will attract the attention of potential suitors vying for his services. Or maybe in the scenario Jarnkrok rediscovers his game, Toronto finds it more pertinent to hang on to him if he can once again prove his worth to the organization.
