Arsenal started their Carabao Cup campaign with a 2-0 win over Port Vale, with Eberechi Eze and Leandro Trossard netting the Gunners’ goals.
Mikel Arteta made nine changes to his squad that faced Manchester City in the Premier League over the weekend, including a debut for Kepa Arrizabalaga in goal.
Eze started the match against Port Vale, scoring just eight minutes into the match for his first Arsenal goal.
After the match, Arteta praised the Englishman for his performance and admitted that there is more to come from Eze.
What did Arteta say about Eze’s performance in the Carabao Cup?
Speaking after Arsenal’s match, Arteta said, “He played very centrally against a team that went 5-4-1, super-compact inside.

“It’s not easy to find the space, but he’s very capable with the goal and with another three or four actions that he is completely through and [playing] people through.”
Eze has made five appearances for Arsenal, with the attacker being played in a variety of different positions.
Against Port Vale, Eze started the match on the left, creating plenty of chances for the Gunners.
Arteta continued, “He needs to still play more time a little bit with those guys to understand the timings, especially the things that he needs to do, and then actions like that will be more consistent and better for us.
“In general, very good. There is still a lot more to give, I think.
“At the end, what we want to do with him is to get him in positions, in spaces that he can create his magic moments. Some of that will be from the wide areas, some of that will be from the right or left in relation to the opposition as well.”
Eze scored 10 goals and had 11 assists for Crystal Palace last season in all competitions, suggesting that the Englishman will continue to be crucial for Arsenal.
