NBC is calling in the big guns for this year’s Ryder Cup, enlisting a who’s who of golf luminaries to wax lyrical on the links.
Leading the coverage are hole-by-hole announcers Terry Gannon and Steve Sands, who will look to soundtrack the festivities with their distinct tone and flair.
They’ll be accompanied by a motley crew of experts. Americans Notah Begay III and Brad Faxon will look to put their allegiances to the side while offering musings on the competition as analysts. Both were longtime Tour pros who have lent their vocals to NBC Sports broadcasts for more than a decade.
They aren’t the only partisans set to croon about the golf on offer at Bethpage Black. Europeans Paul McGinley and Nick Faldo will also take the microphone throughout the competition. McGinley led Team Europe to gold as a player in 2002 and as captain in 2014, while Faldo is one of golf’s most recognizable voices. He was selected as Team Europe’s captain in 2008.
“Bones” Mackay, Smylie Kaufman and Curt Byrum will serve as the tournament’s on-course reporters, while Cara Banks, Anna Jackson, Damon Hack and Tim Barter will conduct interviews.
Additional coverage will be provided by Rich Lerner, who will host “Golf Central Live”, Golf Channel’s live studio show.
