When does the Ryder Cup start? What to know about opening ceremony time, weekend schedule

Every year when the Ryder Cup rolls around, the sense of anticipation builds.

Team USA against Team Europe in the most passionate golf event around. It doesn’t get better than this.

It really tests the patience of golf fans, who have seen the regular season come and go and are now just waiting for this massive tournament.

Here’s what you need to know about the schedule ahead.

When does the Ryder Cup start?

The 2025 edition of the Ryder Cup will tee off on Friday, Sept. 26. It runs through Sunday, Sept. 28.

The opening match on Friday begins at 7:10 a.m. ET.

When is the Ryder Cup opening ceremony?

The Ryder Cup opening ceremony has been moved up in the schedule due to thunderstorms in the forecast.

It was originally supposed to take place on Thursday, Sept. 25, from 4-7 p.m. ET.

Now, it’ll take place on Wednesday evening instead, Sept. 24. It’s televised on the Golf Channel from 4-5 p.m. ET.

The Friday pairings and matchups won’t be released at the opening ceremony because of its earlier time. Those will still be unveiled Thursday.

  • Match 1 – 7:10 a.m.
  • Match 2 – 7:26 a.m.
  • Match 3 – 7:42 a.m.
  • Match 4 – 7:58 a.m.

Four-ball

  • Match 1 – 12:25 p.m.
  • Match 2 – 12:41 p.m.
  • Match 3 – 12:57 p.m.
  • Match 4 – 1:13 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 27

Foursomes

  • Match 1 – 7:10 a.m.
  • Match 2 – 7:26 a.m.
  • Match 3 – 7:42 a.m.
  • Match 4 – 7:58 a.m.

  • Match 1 – 12:25 p.m.
