Derrick Henry has a fumbling problem, plain and simple.
The Baltimore Ravens running back fumbled for the third time in as many games in the Monday night loss to the Detroit Lions and it proved very costly.
Henry’s fumble came in the fourth quarter when the Ravens were driving to take the lead in a 28-24 game. The Lions went on to recover the fumble and turned it into three points with a field goal.
Henry also fumbled in the fourth quarter of the Week 1 loss to the Buffalo Bills. The Bills ended up capitalizing on it with a 30-yard touchdown drive.
The future Hall of Famer’s second fumble came in the Week 2 win over the Cleveland Browns, but the Ravens were able to recover.
What Derrick Henry said about fumble vs. Lions
After the 38-30 loss to the Lions, Henry said fumbling again “sucks right now,” according to the Baltimore Banner’s Jonas Shaffer.
“I’m at a loss for words,” Henry added, per The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec. “It’s not a good feeling. I’m going to keep working to get it fixed.”

“I don’t think it will be [the norm] going forward, but we gotta get it fixed. That was a blind shot [from the defender]… Still, we just want to protect the football,” head coach John Harbaugh said, per Sarah Ellison.
With his three fumbles, Henry is already halfway to his personal-worst mark of six, a total he hit in 2022. Henry had three fumbles in 17 games in 2024.
This is obviously a major concern moving forward considering how crucial Henry is to Baltimore’s offense. Not to mention, with the Ravens’ defense struggling the way it has been, Baltimore can ill-afford to give away possessions.
Henry will look to do a better job of taking care of the football when the Ravens travel to Arrowhead to take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4.
