On an appearance on the Kelce brothers’ podcast, “New Heights,” Colorado head coach Deion Sanders talked about several subjects, but what fans wanted to know about was his thoughts on his son Shedeur’s NFL career, and he didn’t hold back.
Sanders said he thought his son would eventually become the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns.
Sanders said the best piece of advice he is giving his son is to be patient and be ready, because he thinks he’s about to start soon.
“I got a prediction, but I ain’t tell nobod, I got a feeling when it’s going to go down,” the coach said, but it’s going to go down this year.”
Sanders also dropped another bomb; the Philadelphia Eagles called Sanders on draft day, so did Baltimore, and of course, the Browns.
But although Sanders played with the Ravens at the end of his career, his son didn’t want to go there to back up Lamar Jackson because he knew he’d probably be a career backup.
“I don’t want to say how it went, but how in the world can somebody fault him for saying or thinking, why in the world would I go back up Lamar for 10 years?” he said. “I never sat on a bench and said I’ve learned a lot today.”
What Sanders is saying does make sense. If he went to the Ravens or Eagles, he’d probably be backing up Jalen Hurts and Jackson for a long time and may not ever get his chance to be a starter.
In Cleveland, especially after his great preseason, his chances of being a starter increased, and if nothing else, he has a legitimate chance to become a starter in the NFL than anywhere else in the league, and according to his dad, sooner than later.
