Dallas Cowboys wide receivers George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb are going to be a little lighter in the wallet this week.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Pickens and Lamb were fined $14,491 each for making violent gestures during the Week 2 win over the New York Giants.
Those weren’t the only fines they received, though, as Lamb was also hit with a $11,593 punishment for taunting on a separate play and Pickens removing his helmet before leaving the field cost him an additional $14,491.
In all, the Cowboys receiver duo combined for $55,066 worth of fines.
The gestures came after Pickens’ touchdown catch in the fourth quarter of the game. After reeling in the catch, Pickens and Lamb combined for a celebration that saw them make finger guns. Neither player was flagged for the infraction.
This is all part of the NFL’s crackdown on so-called violent and inappropriate gestures in recent years.
“Unsportsmanlike gestures like simulating or either shooting a gun or brandishing a gun, or inappropriate gestures like a throat slash, or unfortunate sexual gestures, those were up 133% so that is a point of emphasis,” NFL officiating rules analyst Walt Anderson said back in August.
The NFL fined #Cowboys WRs CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens $14,491 each for unsportsmanlike conduct/violent gesture on this touchdown celebration last week.

“The officials have made it a point of emphasis to the clubs. It’s just one of those areas that the league wants to work actively on,”he added. “There are plenty of ways for players to be able to celebrate, and they come up with some very unique and often entertaining ways so we want them to focus on those and not the inappropriate areas.”
Lamb, Pickens and the Cowboys will return to action in Week 3 when they take on the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field on Sunday.
