The 2025-26 NBA season is just over a month away, and teams around the league are still figuring out what their official rosters are going to look like for the season.
There is still a ton of drama that’s going down throughout the league, and a lot of it is linked to the Golden State Warriors.
Restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga has been a consistent name popping up in trade rumors, but more recently, a former Golden State Warriors forward – now with the Miami Heat – has also surfaced in the mix.
Rumors linking Andrew Wiggins to the Lakers get shut down
Andrew Wiggins was traded from the Golden State Warriors to the Miami Heat during the NBA trade deadline in February. Rumors have been heating up about a deal that would send him to the Los Angeles Lakers.
According to reports, the Heat are no longer willing to trade the NBA champion forward. He’s expected to remain in Miami for the start of the regular season.
“Right now, the Heat don’t hold much of a desire to trade Wiggins and are operating under the mindset of waiting to see how things play out during the first few months of the regular season,” sources told Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints. “Miami has held a high asking price for the former first-overall pick, one that the Lakers haven’t been willing to meet.”

Wiggins, 30, is still one of the best defensive forwards in the NBA. In 60 games for the Warriors and Heat last season, he averaged 18.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.0 steals per game.
A trade seemed to be in the works, but the former All-Star’s large contract that includes a player option in the 2026-27 season has him getting paid $28.2 million for the upcoming season and $30 million next year.
This, mixed with the Heat’s large asking price for the forward, seems to be the barrier that is blocking any potential for a deal getting done.
