The Philadelphia 76ers are looking to bounce back after a wasted season in 2025 that saw them win just 24 games. While the team’s core of Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Paul George figure to be healthier next season, the 76ers could also be in the market for some high-level role players.
Athlon Sports’ Nathaniel Holloway pointed to Boston Celtics sharpshooter Sam Hauser as a potential trade candidate for the 76ers. Hauser has become one of the best three-point shooters in the NBA throughout his four-year career, which would give a boost to the 76ers depth.
“The 27-year-old forward is a great 3-point shooter who would give the 76ers a much-needed scoring option off the bench, especially with them looking to move Kelly Oubre Jr.,” Holloway said. “Despite this, Hauser will likely draw attention from many teams around the NBA if the Celtics look to move him, which could cause the 76ers to have to win a bidding war for the former champion.”
Celtics faced with an uncertain future
The Celtics are in the midst of a roster transformation in their own right, seeing the departure of Jrue Holiday, Luke Kornet, Kristaps Porzingis, and Al Horford this summer alone. Additionally, Jayson Tatum will miss most — if not all of — next season, putting the Celtics in a position where they may opt to save money in 2025-26, and focus on the following season when they can get back to full strength.
Hauser averaged 8.5 points per game last season, shooting 41.6 percent from three-point range. The 27-year-old is a career 42 percent three-point shooter.
