Red Sox insider reveals who Boston will be rolling out on the mound for series against Athletics

The Boston Red Sox pitching staff has been one of the best in the MLB this season, but lately, it seems they’re falling apart. However, it seems they’re getting a chance to reset themselves in their next series.

The Sox are playing the Athletics in Boston starting tomorrow, and MassLive’s Sox insider Chris Cotillo has revealed who the team is rolling out as their starters.

“Red Sox announce Connelly Early will start against the A’s tomorrow, followed by Lucas Giolito and Brayan Bello to finish off that series,” Cotillo posted.

So, the Sox are starting off tomorrow with their newest young phenom in Connelly Early, who debuted against the Athletics in Sacramento a week ago. Early tied a Red Sox record with 11 strikeouts in his debut, and went five innings.

Where the reset comes in is for the two members of the Sox’ Big Three, Lucas Giolito and Brayan Bello. Both are stellar pitchers who are having a tough time in their past couple starts.

Giolito is having a comeback season, posting a 3.31 ERA with a 10-4 and a WHIP of 1.250 in 136 innings pitched. However, he’s been getting peppered lately, giving up one to three runs a game. While it doesn’t seem that bad, Giolito has been one of the most dominant pitchers in MLB, and this small skid could lead somewhere bad with October right around the corner.

As for Bello, he’s having his breakout season, but lately, he’s getting blown up even more than Giolito. At one point he had a sub-three ERA, and now it’s at 3.25. It certainly doesn’t bode well for the Sox who are trying to make a final playoff push.

Hopefully their starts go smoothly, and they get back on track for the final three series of the season.
