The New York Knicks have been linked to plenty of free agents ahead of training camp. With a couple of roster spots up for grabs, the Knicks will bring in several players to compete for a spot in Mike Brown’s rotation.
According to SNY’s Ian Begley, the Knicks have been linked to Matt Ryan as a potential candidate to earn a training camp. Ryan spent time with the Knicks last season, appearing in just 19 games and in mostly non-important minutes. The 28-year-old Ryan is known for his three-point shooting prowess, and will look to make an impression to earn another spot with the Knicks.
Additionally, the Knicks have been linked to big man Alex Len, who impressed the Knicks in a workout. He most recently played for the Los Angeles Lakers, and Sacramento Kings in 2024-25. Another former Laker big man, Trey Jemison, is also viewed as a candidate.

Finally, the Knicks have also been linked to Dennis Smith Jr., who played for the Knicks from 2018-2021. The Knicks brought in Smith Jr. for informal scrimmages where he was impressive. In his past tenure with the Knicks, Smith struggled mightily, averaging 8.7 points, and 3.7 assists per game while shooting 38 percent from the field and 28 percent from three-point range.
